Charities & fundraising

Open days and presentations for the alpacas are held at Thorn farm to raise money for local causes.
Alpaca poo, which is excellent for the vegetable patch and the roses, is sold in order to raise donations for Guide Dogs for the blind.
Thorn Alpacas can be seen at a number of local village shows during the summer months; such as the Hort and Sport show in Stoke Fleming.

The Thorn alpaca herd is situated in a beautiful and tranquil valley between Dartmouth and Stoke Fleming in Devon.
About us
Thorn alpacas came into being when I purchased one pregnant Huacaya and a companion Suri in 2007. From then on I was totally enchanted with these inquisitive, gentle and funny animals, and have gradually increased the herd to twenty! Their fleece colours range from black, grey, brown to light fawn. All the alpacas are regularly handled, inspected, vaccinated and halter trained. They are registered with the British Alpaca Society and the South West Alpaca Group. Most of the herd have been shown over the years and won rosettes at Devon County, Bath and West, Three Counties Malvern and Somerset County shows. Thorn Alpacas have also raised funds for local causes. Our knitwear is solely from Thorn alpacas and is spun locally or in a mini mill in Scotland and it is knitted locally in Devon.
Recent shows
Enjoy some of our pictures from shows we recently attended, including Nina's championship win at Three Counties show 2019. We have also had great success at Devon County and Bath & West shows. Sadly no halter shows in 2020, but hopefully there will be more to come in 2021.
Below: Polly the suri is shown getting ready to be a reindeer and then can be seen with Constanza at an outdoor Carol Concert on Blackpool Sands before Christmas this year.
